Menstrual Hygiene Day takes place every year on May 28 and has grown into a massive global movement over the past 10 years. Our joint mission: Together for a #PeriodFriendlyWorld.
"Together" is crucial. No one can solve the menstruation-related challenges women* face alone. But together, we can.
MH Day creates a powerful wave of attention for menstruation each year through media coverage, events, and social media campaigns. This global momentum drives conversation around menstruation and puts pressure on key institutions—governments, UN agencies, and corporates—to take action, from launching programs to adopting new policies.
*We recognise that not everyone who menstruates identifies as a woman and that not all women menstruate

In a #PeriodFriendlyWorld, the stigma and taboos surrounding menstruation are history. It is a world where everyone can access the products, period education, menstrual health services and period-friendly infrastructure they need. The progress of MH Day
In 2014, Menstrual Hygiene Day started with just 155 partners and 89 pieces of media coverage. Since then, it has grown into a global movement for a #PeriodFriendlyWorld. In 2025, more than 1,300 MH Day partner organisations, individuals, influencers and the media generated the biggest global conversation on menstruation to date. Collectively, we reached 971 million people and pushed back taboos and stigma like never before.
This is the power of collective action: MH Day 2025 reached 971 million people – that’s 1/8th of the world’s population – and a new all-time record! Every post, article, and conversation about menstruation during the campaign phase between April 29 and June 10 2025 made this possible.
